Department of History

The Department of History is one of the inaugural departments or subjects of the college which has its growth along with up-bringing of the institution since 2013. History, as an honours course was started from the session of 2018-2019. From the very same academic session, much awaited CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) was introduced in undergraduate courses as well. This unleashed the department to run across the history of various span and regions, from regional to global, with multiple choices and multi-disciplinary approaches

 

History is not just about memorizing dates and events; it is a dynamic field that provides insights into human behavior, cultural diversity, and societal transformations. Through the study of history, students develop critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, and a refined understanding of the complexities of the world.

Our department is dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of the past and understanding how it has shaped our present and will influence our future. Our esteemed faculty members are passionate about their areas of expertise and are committed to fostering a deep appreciation for historical knowledge among our students.

The curriculum of History is designed to offer a comprehensive exploration of historical periods, regions, and themes. From ancient civilizations to modern revolutions, from local histories to global interactions, our courses cover a wide range of topics that illuminate the human experience across time and space.

Beyond the classroom, we provide numerous opportunities for experiential learning. Field trips to historical sites, museums, and archives allow students to engage directly with the material remnants of the past. The Department of History also promotes interdisciplinary collaboration. We encourage our students to explore connections between history and other disciplines, such as political science, education, philosophy, literature and many more. This  helps them to broaden their perspectives and enhances their ability to analyze complex issues from multiple angles. We also engage students on preparing projects and assignment to enhance their expressive quality. Our faculty members are approachable mentors who provide guidance and support, nurturing the intellectual growth and personal development of each student.
